KINDER CARE Montessori
Exercises of Practical Life
By this term is meant the day to day activities that are performed by man-the adult at home. The child has an inner urge to work at this activities and he is given an opportunity to do so in the Montessori environment. He thus develops his elementary movements, (carrying, walking, sitting) learns to look after his environment (sweeping, dusting, washing, polishing) look after himself (dressing, lacing, buttoning) and build social relations.
Children who work on real tasks which involve the hand and the mind together develop a great calm and capacity to concentrate which is the best possible preparation for intellectual work to come.
